Handle are delighted to be working with a unique and innovative Publishing House in their search for a Finance Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a successful and distinctive brand at a key stage in their growth and to utilise and grow their skills in a forward-thinking business that is continuing to evolve its business model in the exciting world of publishing.

This role will ideally suit someone who is a great all rounder and will relish getting involved in all elements of finance within the business from the more transactional aspects to improving systems, reporting and management! You should be curious, adaptable, outward thinking and very proactive with great attention to detail!

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

\xc2\xa7 Production & presentation of monthly management accounts including balance sheet, profit & loss and budget comparisons

\xc2\xa7 Cash flow forecasting & reporting

\xc2\xa7 Management of company bank accounts

\xc2\xa7 Production of annual budget and quarterly forecasts, working alongside SMEs

\xc2\xa7 Liaison with external accountants for preparation of annual accounts

\xc2\xa7 VAT returns

\xc2\xa7 Oversight of weekly payment runs and invoice processing

\xc2\xa7 Submitting monthly payroll information to external accountants to process

\xc2\xa7 Preparation and distribution of the bi-annual \'Author Profit Statements\'

\xc2\xa7 Provide management information and ad-hoc analysis as required

\xc2\xa7 Continuous process improvement

\xc2\xa7 Any other ad-hoc tasks

Qualifications and Experience

Must-have

  • CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW, ACA qualified
  • Good MS Office skills, including advanced Excel.
Desirable
  • SME and/or Music, Media, Publishing experience
  • Xero accounting software knowledge
  • Experience of cloud-based expense / purchasing management software
  • SQL experience
Person specification
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to build a strong rapport across all levels
  • Must be confident to take a lead role in finance related processes, and work without close supervision
  • Initiative to deal with problems as they arise or refer them to supervisor for further investigation
