CTS is a growing SME providing specialist logistics solutions to the nuclear and defence sectors. We pride ourselves on delivering reliable services with a strong focus on quality and compliance. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a capable Finance Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day finance function and help drive the business forward.
The Role
This is a hands-on position -- perfect for someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of SME finance. You'll manage everything from raising invoices and chasing payments, to reconciling bank accounts, paying suppliers, preparing VAT returns and delivering month-end management accounts for the Board.
You'll have the autonomy to run the function independently, while also having a genuine impact on the business.
Key Responsibilities
Raise and issue all customer invoices accurately and on time.
Manage credit control, ensuring prompt customer payments and proactive debt chasing.
Process supplier invoices and manage supplier payments.
Complete daily bank reconciliations and maintain accurate cashflow tracking.
Act as company cashier -- manage petty cash and bank deposits.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings.
Produce accurate month-end accounts, journals, prepayments, accruals and reconciliations.
Payroll journals and pensions management.
Deliver monthly management accounts with commentary to the MD/Board.
Support annual accounts preparation and liaise with external accountants as needed.
Continuously look for ways to streamline processes and improve reporting.
Support with relevant areas within the annual budgeting cycle.
Banking administration
Key contact for insurance and responsible for preparation of documentation and summaries for annual renewal.
Skills & Experience Required
Strong experience in an SME finance role covering all core functions end-to-end.
Solid understanding of bookkeeping, VAT, and month-end processes.
Good working knowledge of accounting software (Sage50 and Business Central).
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills -- able to deal with customers, suppliers and senior stakeholders confidently.
Ideally part-qualified or qualified by experience (AAT/ACCA/CIMA desirable but not essential if they have strong SME background).
