My client a management-accounting firm built for the creative services sector. We support agencies with bookkeeping, payroll, management accounts, year-end accounts and financial planning, removing the complexity so our clients can focus on their creative work. As part of our team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage day-to-day financial operations including bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and expense management.
Prepare and deliver regular management accounts (monthly/quarterly) including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, cashflow forecasts, budgeting and variance analysis.
Monitor client and internal cash flow; produce 12-month forward cashflow forecasts, alert to potential liquidity issues, and advise on cash management.
Support payroll administration (or liaise with payroll sub-team) to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and compliance.
Assist with VAT, tax computations, and year-end accounts preparations for clients and internally (or coordinate with external accountants).
Provide financial analysis, identify trends in costs, overheads and profitability, and translate these into clear, actionable insights (for clients and internal stakeholders).
Work with clients (mainly creative agencies) to understand their business model, industry benchmarks (e.g. staff cost ratio, overheads), and provide tailored financial advice to help them scale profitably.
Help maintain and improve financial systems, workflows, and processes ensuring financial data accuracy and compliance.
Collaborate with non-finance functions (e.g. HR, operations) as needed to support business growth and deliver integrated back-office services to clients.
Person Specification / Required Skills & Experience
Qualified (or part-qualified) accountant (e.g. AAT, ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience in finance management.
Strong bookkeeping and accounting experience ideally in a firm providing services to agencies / creative / professional services businesses.
Proficiency with accounting software ideally experience with systems such as Xero, QuickBooks (or comparable). Given we work for these for clients, this is a plus.
Solid understanding of UK financial regulations, VAT, tax regulations, payroll compliance.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and present it clearly to non-finance stakeholders (e.g. agency owners).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills able to work directly with clients and internal teams, explain financial concepts in plain English (in line with our ethos of "removing financial gobbledygook").
Attention to detail, high level of integrity, and good organisational skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple clients and internal financial tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
Ideally, some exposure to supporting growing businesses / agencies, where overheads, staff costs, cashflow forecasting and financial planning are key.
