Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially minded
Finance Manager
to oversee the financial performance of our growing Papa John's franchise network. This role is critical in driving profitability, strengthening financial controls, and supporting operational decision-making across multiple stores.
The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Store Managers, Payroll, and external accountants to ensure accurate reporting, cost control, and forward-looking financial planning.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Control
Prepare and review
weekly, monthly, and quarterly P&L reports
at store and group level
Ensure accurate posting of sales, labour, food costs, royalties, marketing fees, and delivery platform charges
Own balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments
Liaise with external accountants for
year-end accounts, VAT returns, and statutory reporting
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts across all stores
Monitor performance vs budget and explain variances clearly
Build store-level financial models to support new openings, refurbishments, and acquisitions
Cost & Margin Management
Analyse
labour %, food variance %, delivery fees, and store profitability
Support procurement decisions and margin optimisation initiatives
Identify inefficiencies and recommend cost-saving opportunities without impacting service or brand standards
Payroll & People Costs
Oversee payroll accuracy including hourly wages, salaried staff, pensions, NI, bonuses, and holiday pay
Support rota efficiency and labour optimisation analysis
Ensure compliance with UK employment and payroll regulations
Cash Flow & Working Capital
Manage cash flow forecasting and weekly cash reporting
Monitor rent, utilities, supplier payments, and delivery partner settlements
Support banking relationships and funding requirements
Operational & Strategic Support
Partner with Operations to improve store KPIs (OSAT, delivery times, labour efficiency)
Provide financial insight for promotions, pricing changes, and marketing campaigns
Support franchise audits and head office reporting requirements
Skills & Experience RequiredEssential
Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
or
strong QSR/multi-site finance experience
Experience managing finances for
multi-site retail, hospitality, or QSR businesses
Strong Excel skills (financial models, forecasts, variance analysis)
Excellent understanding of P&L drivers in food & delivery-led businesses
High attention to detail with a commercial mindset
Desirable
Experience within
Papa John's, Domino's, or similar QSR brands
Experience working with delivery platforms (Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eat)
Knowledge of labour optimisation, OSAT metrics, and franchise reporting
Experience supporting store openings and acquisitions
