As we continue to grow, we are looking for a competent and trustworthy Finance Manager to take ownership of our finance function and to support the next exciting chapter of our business journey.

Hours of Work:

Flexible/Part-time, approx. 25-30 hours per week - Hybrid potential after training period.

Reports To:

Managing Director, Mrs Jane Heppenstall

Purpose of the Role



As Finance Manager, you will take ownership of the financial operations at EMD, ensuring that our financial systems, reporting, and processes all run smoothly and support the ongoing growth of the business. Working closely with our accountants and leadership team, you will manage event budgets, oversee cashflow, produce regular reports, and develop efficient financial processes all while ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and service.

Key Responsibilities



1?. Financial Management

Manage and maintain event budgets, providing regular updates and forecasts to the Managing Director. Raise and process sales invoices for delegates, clients, and trade exhibitors, ensuring timely payment. Chase outstanding payments and process refunds where necessary. Manage supplier payments and ensure accurate cost recharging. Reconcile accounts on a regular basis and investigate any anomalies. Prepare month-end reports, projections, and financial forecasts. Liaise with the company's accountants and attend financial meetings as required. Support the preparation of figures and data for new business contracts. Manage relationships with the bank and other financial institutions. Maintain organised, accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Handle confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism. Managing EMD's staff payroll.

2?. Process & Continuous Improvement

Review and improve internal financial processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting quality. Identify opportunities for automation and digitalisation across financial operations. Develop clear, easy-to-use budget and reporting tools for internal teams. Provide recommendations to leadership on financial performance, trends, and opportunities. Contribute to broader business discussions and support the leadership team with strategic decision-making. Collaborate with the wider EMD team to ensure financial processes support operational and commercial goals.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience



AAT qualification (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 2 years' experience in a finance management or senior finance role. Proven track record of managing financial processes, reporting, and forecasting. Familiarity with accounting software (Xero desirable) and strong Excel skills.
