As

Finance Manager

, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting across our group of nurseries. You will work closely with our Finance Director to bring clarity to the numbers, strengthen financial performance, and make a real impact on a business that's all about growth.

This role would be ideal/suit a qualified accountant from practice looking to make their first move into industry, or a management accountant with full P&L and balance sheet ownership.



Key Responsibilities as Finance Manager:



Month-End Reporting



Lead the month-end process with precision, preparing management accounts, variance analysis, and reconciliations. Take ownership of supplier accounts, intercompany balances, accruals, and prepayments. Manage and reconcile key funding streams, including government grants and childcare funding.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis



Drive the annual budget and rolling forecasts alongside the Head of Finance and operational teams. Deliver sharp, meaningful analysis across revenue, funding, pricing, and costs -- spotting trends and opportunities before anyone else. Provide insights that challenge assumptions and enhance decision-making. Keep our Fixed Asset Register in top shape.

Statutory Accounts, Audit & Compliance



Support statutory accounts preparation and audit readiness. Liaise with auditors and external partners to ensure compliance and smooth year-end delivery. Strengthen internal controls and promote best financial practice across the Group.

Cash Flow & Business Partnering



Keep a close eye on cash flow and working capital. Partner with budget holders to build financial awareness and accountability. Develop clear, consistent financial and non-financial KPIs. Deliver ad hoc analysis that drives real business improvement.

Our ideal candidate has:



A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (ACCA/CIMA qualification preferred). 3+ years' experience in management accounting, ideally in a multi-site or service-based environment. Strong analytical and Excel skills - you love turning data into decisions. A keen eye for detail and the ability to juggle deadlines with ease. Excellent communication and stakeholder skills, confident enough to challenge, collaborative enough to inspire.
