Overview



The Royal Air Force Yacht Club is conveniently situated in Hamble village in its own extensive riverside setting. Being centrally located in the Solent, the River Hamble provides an ideal location for sailing inshore to the Isle of Wight, along the south coast or offshore to The Channel Islands, France and beyond. We aim to have as much fun off the water as on. We pride ourselves in offering a relaxed, yet professional environment to support our members' boating needs.

We offer our Members walk-ashore and mid-stream moorings, courtesy launches, active sailing and social programmes, dinghy and outboard storage, maintenance berths, laundry, showers, parking, full bar and catering. The Clubhouse is used for organised events and can be hired out to external parties. The club's accommodation is available for booking by both members and non-members.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial and cost management accounting. This role is pivotal in overseeing the financial health of the business. The Finance Manager will play a crucial role in driving cost control initiatives and managing accounts payable processes.

The club can offer flexible working alongside the option to work from both home and the office.

The Finance Manager will be an integral part of the club's Finance Committee and on occasion will be required to attend committee meetings.

Duties



Help develop and implement financial strategies to support the organisation's goals. Carry out financial accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations/legislation. Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts. Prepare cash flow statements to maintain optimal liquidity and present these to the Finance Committee and the Board. Carry out the accounts payable function. Carry out cost control analyses to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements. Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures across the organisation.

Qualifications/Experience



Experience in financial management, with a robust understanding of financial accounting principles. Accountancy qualifications or qualification by experience is desirable. Extensive use of Excel spreadsheets Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Able to work independently and with a variety of different systems. The club's main accounting system is Xero; experience of Xero will be advantageous but not essential. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to managers and Directors some of whom may not have a finance background.

Main duties



Annually -

Preparation of annual accounts with supporting documentation for Independent Examination

Quarterly

- Preparation of VAT returns

Monthly

- Preparation of Management Accounts with Budgets and commentary; preparation of Cashflow; payroll preparation including paying staff and HMRC.

Weekly

- Posting of all bank transactions; reconciling bank receipts to all the different sales streams recorded on various platforms using a mix of .csv files, direct postings & journals; processing supplier invoices and all expenses due.
