Purpose of the Role
A strategic, detail-orientated, and proactive Finance Manager, responsible for leading our financial planning, operations, and compliance efforts. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis while contributing to broader operational and strategic decisions. You will play a key role in managing financial risk, supporting business growth, and ensuring effective governance and control across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management accounts.
Analyse financial data and trends to inform strategic decisions.
Develop financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term planning models.
Support the Board with financial insights, scenario modelling and KPIs.
Risk, Compliance and Control
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, HMRC regulations, and statutory requirements.
Identify, evaluate, and manage financial risks.
Manage audits and year-end reporting, liaising with auditors and accountants
Operational Finance
Oversee payroll, VAT submissions, bank reconciliations, and payment processes.
Manage staff expenses, credit card usage, and FX transactions.
Review and approve purchase orders, budgets, and reports in relevant software.
Team Leadership and Stakeholder Communication
Lead and support finance team members.
Conduct appraisals, training needs analysis, and daily workload supervision.
Present financial updates to SLT and Board, translating complex information into clear insights.
Process Improvement and Strategic Support
Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, systems, and controls.
Implement tools and frameworks that support financial efficiency and transparency.
Oversee IT development work and liaise with external providers to meet SLAs and project goals.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
Professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP and regulatory frameworks.
Proficient in financial software, Excel, and accounting systems.
Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
