Finance Manager

Base:

Hybrid, home working with regular visits to the INPDR Head Office: Suite 2E, North Sands Business Centre, Sunderland SR6 0QA. The number of office visits will be agreed with the successful candidate.

Salary

12,000pa for 15 hours per week
(Equivalent to 30,000 per annum full-time)

Line Management:

Reports to the Chief Operating Officer and Chair of the Board

Contract:

12-month contract, with the possibility of renewal or extension subject to review.

Purpose of the Role



The Finance Manager will play a key role in maintaining and strengthening the financial operations of both the International Niemann-Pick Disease Registry (INPDR) and INPDR Gateway Ltd. This position is essential to ensuring sound financial governance, robust budget planning, and regulatory compliance. The postholder will support strategic decision-making through accurate financial reporting and analysis, enabling the organisation to continue advancing global understanding and treatment of Niemann-Pick diseases.

Key Responsibilities



Financial Management & Reporting



Prepare and present timely, accurate financial reports, including analysis of budget variances and financial forecasts. Support the development, monitoring, and evaluation of annual organisational budgets

Grant & Contract Management



Manage the financial administration of grants, ensuring full compliance with donor requirements and reporting obligations. Oversee payments to clinical sites, contractors, and partners, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.

Regulatory Compliance & Governance



Ensure compliance with all internal financial procedures, charity finance regulations, and relevant international financial standards. Maintain clear, comprehensive financial records in accordance with statutory and organisational policies.

Audit & Assurance



Support the coordination of internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to financial queries.

Financial Planning & Analysis



Conduct financial analysis to support strategic planning, project development, and operational decision-making. Monitor and report on organisational cash flow; prepare forward-looking cash flow forecasts and maintain appropriate liquidity levels.

Systems & Administration



Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, maintaining accurate bookkeeping and financial controls. Use financial management software (e.g., Xero, Sage) and Excel to manage data, generate reports, and ensure high-quality financial oversight.

Collaboration



Work closely with the COO, Board, and wider team to provide financial insight that supports programme delivery and organisational growth.

Person Specification



Qualifications



Recognised qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience



Minimum of two years' experience in a finance or accounting role. Experience in the charity or non-profit sector is desirable but not essential.

Skills & Attributes



Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Xero, Sage), Excel, and reporting tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with confidence engaging colleagues across teams. High attention to detail and accuracy in all financial processes and reporting. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions



The role may be undertaken from the office or remotely. Standard working hours apply; occasional additional hours may be required during peak reporting or audit periods.
