Job Description


We have a fantastic opportunity for a Tax Manager to join the Finance team based at our Head Office in Bradford. Morrisons consistently ranks as one of the largest taxpayers in the UK and contributes over xc2xa31bn to the UK Government each year. Reporting to the Head of Tax you will work as part of the Group Tax Team responsible for managing the Group tax affairs in line with Group Tax Strategy.The key responsibilities of the tax manager will be:

  • Manage tax governance across the business ensuring compliance with SAO and CCO rules
  • Manage tax risks across the business in line with Group Tax Policy
  • Prepare UK corporation tax returns
  • Co-ordinate preparation of overseas tax returns
  • Calculate tax accounting entries for group and subsidiary financial statements
  • Provide support on tax projects including capital allowance claims and claims
  • Act as Tax Business Partner advising on the tax aspects of projects and
  • transactions or replying to tax queries from around the business in a fast paced retail environment
  • A chance to develop understanding of other taxes and assist with
  • withholding tax compliance, stamp duty returns etc.
  • Supporting the People and Reward team with employment tax queries. Experience of this is not a must.
  • Supporting the Head of Tax with the implementation of Pillar 2 and the Groups transfer pricing policy.
About youTo be a successful Tax Manager at Morrisons you will have:
  • Professional qualification in Accounting or Tax (ACA/ACCA/ICAS/CTA)
  • Experience of working in tax in either a professional services or in-house role
  • Experience of using Alphatax for preparation of UK corporation tax returns is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness, project management skills and ability to deliver change
