Reporting to the CFO, the Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing a company's financial health and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Here's a snapshot of what the role typically involves:
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations
ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Includes process integrity and supervision and development of staff.
Review and manage cashflows
- track daily. Produce weekly forecasts. Ensure that Finance Company and own Finance agreements receipts are managed effectively. Ensure that suppliers are paid to agreed terms to ensure discount agreements are complied with.
Payrolls
- facilitate monthly payments to staff in line with contracts of employment. Ensure weekly commissions are paid to contract staff in line with agreements.
Develop and implement financial policies
and procedures in line with company goals.
Prepare and review financial reports
, statements, and forecasts.
Ensure compliance
with UK accounting laws and standards (e.g., GAAP).
Coordinate and liaise
with external accountants as required.
Facilitate VAT filings
and ensure timely submissions to HMRC.
Evaluate financial data
to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proficiency in accounting software (especially Xero) and Microsoft Office.
Good working knowledge of UK financial regulations and standards.
Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
Qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. May consider qualified by experience.
