Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Manager to oversee and lead our day-to-day financial operations. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for ensuring strong financial management, compliance, and reporting across the business.

This is a hands-on role where you'll manage a small team, currently 2 direct reports, while remaining actively involved in all day-to-day finance operations. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, "roll up your sleeves" environment and enjoys being a key part of the business decision-making process.

Key Responsibilities:



Lead and manage a finance team covering accounts payable and receivable. Take a proactive, hands-on approach across all finance functions such as debt collection and creditor/debtor liaison, Cash and bank reconciliations. Reporting and analysis Produce and present accurate monthly management accounts Maintain a daily rolling liquidity forecast, working with the wider management team to monitor cash flow and income expectations. Complete all month-end close processes including journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare and submit VAT returns and CIS returns (both suffered and deducted). Process and manage payroll in collaboration with HR and departmental leads. Liaise with external auditors, banks, and HMRC as needed. Complete all month end close processes, to include preparation or journals as well as posting Monthly stock workings including review of stock value and WIP calculation Preparation of statutory accounts

Essential Skills & Experience:



Experience of SAGE 50 accounting system Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA) with proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar role. Strong background in manufacturing or SME environments Proficiency in CIS accounting and subcontractor processes. Confident in preparing statutory accounts and working with external auditors. Comfortable working independently and advising senior stakeholders with limited financial background. Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the business. Experience in handling payroll and liaising with external stakeholders (e.g., HMRC, banks). Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP , SumIfs , Error formulas, Nested formulas, and Pivot tables. Experience in managing a Finance function including production of accounts, reconciliations and month end close.
