England Hockey is recruiting for a Finance Officer to join their small finance team on a temporary contract with the possibility of a permanent role. The Finance Officer will be responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in ensuring that EH's financial policies and procedures are adhered to; maintaining and developing internal financial controls in line with EH's aims and objectives. The Finance Officer will have responsibility for the Sales Ledger function within the team, maintaining clarity and precision in all transactions and ensuring accurate records are kept and updated daily.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Process and cross-reference all payments received through our on-line systems
Manage all financial aspects of the Affiliation process for EH Clubs, working closely with the Clubs team and the RMs to ensure Clubs affiliate on time
Reconcile receipts with Bank Statement and import and post accordingly
Process manual credit card payments and allocate on process
Manage the processing and allocation of any cheques received
Create monthly Membership direct debit file and import into Sage
Process any refunds in line with EH policy and procedure
Raise invoices and credit notes, as requested for products and contracts
Generate Debtors report, liaising with relevant budget holders to manage outstanding invoices and following out credit control process.
Carry out regular house-keeping of the Sales Ledger and deal with enquiries
Provide assistance and cover for colleagues supporting EH events
Provide assistance and cover for all areas of finance as required
Any other reasonable management request

Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrable capability in terms of numeracy and literacy
Relevant financial, book-keeping or accounting experience
Good knowledge and experience of using Excel
Knowledge of, and experience in the use of Accounting software, (Sage an advantage)
Experience of managing a varied workload and working to tight deadlines
An understanding of the principles of VAT
Skills and Abilities
Strong systems skills with a commitment to continuous improvement. Previous experience with accounting systems advantageous.
A team player with the ability to work from own initiative and with multiple stakeholders across the organisation
The ability to maintain confidentiality and work within the requirements of data protection legislation
Excellent organisational and time management skills, able to perform under pressure and work to tight deadlines
