Finance Officer | 9191 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | 39,862 to 41,771 per annum (Scale J) | County Hall, Norwich
We are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join the Budgeting and Accounting Team here at Norfolk County Council and play a key role in helping to deliver a first-class budgeting and accounting service across the organisation.
Norfolk County Council are the main local authority for Norfolk providing services countywide to Norfolk residents. We take a lead in critical policy areas and we work in partnership with local businesses, voluntary organisations and other local authorities in order to provide the people of Norfolk with excellent services.
Our Budgeting and Accounting Team are a critical part of our organisation, providing support across the breadth of our services to ensure that we're accountable as a council, and that taxpayers are receiving the best possible value for money.
A full-time opportunity has arisen within the team supporting this vital process. Working in a large and complex environment currently going through a significant period of transformational change, you'll be part of a talented, proactive team that makes a real difference and is able to support the continual evolution and long-term objectives of the council.
The core focus of the role is to work closely with our services to support day to day budgeting and accounting requirements and manage a member of staff. As a local authority, we are accountable to our tax-payers, so it's essential that we are able to maintain a high standard of professional accounting and that our finances and budgets are transparent and accurate. You could be working closely with any of our services, but it's anticipated that initially this role will support the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service Department.
To be considered for the role, you'll need a proven background as a Finance Officer or similar, working as part of a finance team, and you'll be AAT qualified or part-qualified at CCAB level. You'll be competent providing both management and financial accounting functions, you'll be comfortable analysing financial and non-financial data, and you'll have experience supporting budget holders and their decision making. You'll also be keen to contribute towards the continual improvement and evolution of the finance function.
