Reporting to the Senior Finance Operations Manager, this role leads two teams responsible for high-volume customer transactions, bank reconciliations, and core cash and banking activities. You'll drive process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and financial controls, while unifying the teams into one high-performing, collaborative function.


The role also plays a key part in preparing Finance Operations for future system changes--capturing requirements, supporting testing, and ensuring smooth integration into the target operating model.

Key Responsibilities Include:



Lead and develop two reconciliation teams, fostering a collaborative and accountable working environment. Oversee customer transactional and bank reconciliation processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Manage cash and banking activities including payment processing, bank mandate updates, and ledger postings. Ensure financial controls are operating effectively and tasks are completed within required timeframes. Resolve high volumes of historic outstanding balances through proactive follow-up and cross-functional engagement. Review and improve processes that interface with other departments to enhance control and efficiency. Act as Data Steward and oversee maintenance of End User Computing (EUC) register, ensuring all tools used by the team are accurately documented and kept up to date Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives across reconciliation and banking processes, by applying system, coding and database knowledge to develop innovative solutions. Provide reporting and insights to senior finance leadership on team performance, control effectiveness, and process improvements.

What will make you stand out?



Proven experience in finance operations, particularly in reconciliation and cash/banking activities. Demonstrated success in leading teams within a finance function. Experience in resolving aged financial items and managing high-volume transactional environments. Involved in implementation of new business systems or upgrades and ensuring finance requirements are met and tested. Track record of delivering process improvements and automation initiatives. Familiarity with Credit Card platform (Fiserv) and Vehicle Finance LMS (Access Dimensions/Lenvi) set up and linkage to financial ledger (Coda). Banking payment and reporting knowledge - BACS / Faster Payments / Direct Debit Payments / Credit Payment Recovery / PAYIT / Opening Banking / Card Payments/ Cheque Postal Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience in financial operations and accounting
