LOCATION: Cardiff or Salford (hybrid working)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE:50,000 - 53,000 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are looking for a Finance Specialist, Capital & Lease Accounting to join our Financial Operations team based in Cardiff, as part of Finance Central.
Financial Operations provides professional financial support to a range of BBC stakeholders as part of the BBC's Finance function. The Capital and leasing function ensures effective control of processes relating to Capital Accounting (including Assets Under Construction) and IFRS16 leases and delivers high quality and consistent operational excellence.
The Finance Specialist will:

• Provide specialist technical financial knowledge regarding IFRS 16 leasing and related costs.
• Technical assessment of BBC contracts for lease requirements and the management of lease contracts.
• Forecast and Budget for lease contracts.
• Provide assurances to stakeholders on the BBC's financial model, provide technical accounting and financial reporting and ensure compliance with the BBC Accounting Policies.
• Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of BBC lease environment.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for efficiencies, process improvement and value-add where possible.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

• Experience and knowledge of IFRS 16 accounting is essential.
• You will have strong analytical skills and be fully qualified with a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA).
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence.
• Experience of advanced excel and modelling skills, in relation to key finance information including budgets and forecasts.
• Ability to manage senior stakeholders including explaining complex data / principles to non-finance professionals.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

• Previous experience with SAP would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Knowledge of the theory and practical application of accounting principles and controls, with experience of consolidation adjustments desirable.
