Finance Systems Analyst

Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Finance Systems Analyst to join our Finance team at the EPUKI Leeds office.



This role will support the delivery of process and systems improvements across Finance and the wider business, whilst working closely with the Finance Systems & Reporting Manager (and the wider Finance team) to identify opportunities for efficiency, support the implementation of improvements, and contribute to the development of automation of reporting tools and templates.



This hands-on, learning-focused role is ideally suited to a recent graduate with a strong interest in systems and data, who understands the value of reliable and accurate business information to make sounds financial decisions, and who is also eager to learn and grow within a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities


Reporting to the Finance Systems & Reporting Manager, the key duties and responsibilities will be:

Assisting in mapping and documenting existing Finance and Business processes, working with colleagues across the business to understand how time is spent and where improvements could be made. Supporting the creation of standardised templates and tools (e.g. for management accounts, board reporting, budgeting) using Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft IT tools. Learning to use process mapping tools such as Microsoft Visio to visualise workflows and support improvement initiatives. Developing an understanding of the Finance systems landscape, including SAP and OneStream, and how these tools support reporting and analysis across Finance and the wider Business. Supporting the Finance Systems & Reporting Manager in gathering feedback from Finance users and identifying areas for system enhancement. Proactively identify and self-learn how to use automation tools, and introduce these to help deliver time savings to others within the team. Assisting in testing and documenting system changes and improvements, working closely with IT and the parent company (EPH), where required. Providing support to the Group Finance team through ad-hoc analysis and reporting tasks, including performance tracking and cash forecasting. Helping to maintain and improve consolidated reporting outputs, with a focus on automation and consistency. Learning to use data tools and reporting platforms to support decision-making across the business. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


Background


Experience working in a reporting or data focussed role (desirable), or able to demonstrate driving process improvements / automation in previous experience Basic understanding of the energy industry (desirable). Familiarity with automation tools, such as Power Automate or Power Query (desirable).

Behaviours


Good Excel skills, and a fast learner of new functions and formulae (essential). Demonstrable ability in using AI effectively (e.g. ChatGPT deep research, Claude, CoPilot etc) (essential). Interest in automation and data analysis, with the ability to apply this to a real-life scenario (essential). Basic understanding of programming languages (e.g. SQL, Python, Fabric) (essential). Self-starter and able to work autonomously (desirable). Time management and the ability to prioritise (desirable).

Qualifications


Strong academic record and qualified to Degree level in a relevant subject (e.g. business, accountancy, economics, engineering, maths, physics or other similar science) (essential).
