Job Description

The Finance Systems Team currently comprises an interim manager, based in Leeds, a Finance Systems Analyst, based in Liverpool and a Manchester-based Junior Finance Systems Analyst.


The role of Finance Systems (Senior) Analyst involves supervision and training of the Junior Systems Analyst, reporting, using Power BI and SQL, resolving system issues and driving improvements in financial processes, through technology.


A project has commenced to bring the data of all business functions together, in a unified data warehouse, to deliver business insights and self-service analytics, through AI technologies. The Finance Systems Team will have a key role in supporting this project, in relation to the finance data.

What you will be doing:




Supervision of the junior member of the team, ensuring a collaborative approach to the day to day workload and sharing knowledge to upskill the team


Maintaining the financial systems, including 3E, Concur and Thirdfort; resolving issues and queries


Proactively identify system issues before they escalate and ensure data integrity


Finance systems user security and permissions


Month end systems processes and balancing (3E)


Development of reporting, using Power BI and SQL, providing actionable insights, to legal teams and management


Database query, data analysis, audit reporting and ad hoc reporting, for Finance and the Business


Involvement with finance systems projects, including upgrades, implementations, integrations with other systems, both in-house and third party


Liaison with IT and third party support, in relation to Finance systems bugs, issues and developments


Collaboration with Finance operations teams, to understand their needs and to deliver process improvements through systems enhancements and integrations, through the use of Power Apps, APIs and 3E customisation and workflow


Provide technical and analytical support to end users to ensure that users can utilise the tools and processes effectively

What we are looking for:




Technical proficiency - Strong understanding of finance systems, server & database structures and experience with data analytics tools. Knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, SQL and Microsoft Office 365 is essential. Experience with APIs and with Elite 3e legal software an advantage


Financial skills - A solid understanding of accounting principles, operational finance and financial reporting processes is required


Communication - Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, both internal and external and be able to work alone and as part of a team
