This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic resident of Cheshire East to join our dedicated team of eleven Trustees. Our Trustees provide strategic leadership, ensure strong governance, and support our mission to help people live well and for longer. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute your expertise to an organisation that values inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration.
Getting involved as a charity Trustee is a great way to put your professional skills to use but can also be a fantastic opportunity to learn. You'll get great insight into what is involved in the management of charities and gain extensive leadership skills. It is also a fantastic way to give something back to a cause you care about and demonstrates the commitment you have to your own personal and professional development.
Everybody Health & Leisure is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee; we reinvest 100% of our surplus back into local communities. Our board of trustees are local volunteers with a wide variety of professional backgrounds from various sectors. They bring a wealth of expertise and experience to help shape & improve our services whilst providing a clear vision, strategic direction, control and accountability through the paid executive management structure in fulfilling the charity's public purpose. Trustees should be able to represent local residents and have a track record of community working.

What we're looking for:

  • A professional background in finance (e.g., CIMA/ACA qualified or equivalent experience), ideally with experience that directly relates to the charitable or not?for?profit sector. We also welcome applicants with strong transferrable experience such as charity finance, serving as a NED/Trustee, or holding a senior role in a comparable mission?driven organisation.
  • Experience or understanding of charity finance, grant management, or fundraising finance, with an appreciation of the unique regulatory, reporting, and governance requirements that shape financial decision?making in charities.
  • Strong commitment to our values.
  • Resident of Cheshire East.
  • Passion for collaboration and promoting health & wellbeing in local communities, helping improve physical and mental health through the power of physical activity.
  • Motivation to influence strategic decisions that drive better health outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Ensuring compliance with charity and company law
  • Overseeing financial stability and performance
  • Supporting strategic direction and organisational goals
  • Attending quarterly Board and sub-committee meetings

This is a voluntary role - while Trustees are not remunerated, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
