In this role, you'll take ownership of the VAT cycle-analysing files, performing high-value checks, and building accurate VAT returns-while collaborating with clients and internal teams to deliver exceptional service.

You'll work from home most of the time, with occasional mandatory visits to the Leeds office for meetings or training.
What you'll be doing:

  • Owning the VAT cycle: From analysing test files and performing high-value checks to building VAT returns and submitting them to clients.
  • Working to key deadlines: Delivering VAT returns at two critical points each month (working day 12 and 25), ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC.
  • Managing client relationships: Handling a caseload of around five clients, organising your day strategically, and responding to amendments promptly.
  • Collaborating and communicating: Engaging with clients and internal teams to resolve queries and provide exceptional service.
  • Analysis based on Excel: Applying advanced Excel techniques to manipulate large data sets and deliver accurate results.
  • Supporting continuous improvement: Participating in team initiatives to enhance processes and service delivery.
What you'll bring:
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including V lookups and pivot tables.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and organise your workload effectively.
  • Great communication and customer service skills for client interaction.
  • Experience working with numbers and complex data.
  • A proactive, methodical approach to problem-solving.
