HGEM is the leader in its field, working with many well-known hospitality businesses for over 20 years to help them measure and improve through the use of data and insights gained from feedback sites, reviews and mystery guest audits.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Accountant is responsible for performing tasks surrounding month- and quarter-end close related activities to include account reconciliations, producing schedules and reports, analysing results and carrying out accounts payable functions. This position is also responsible for ad hoc project work as well as basic administrative support for the HGEM team. You will work closely with both our business operation in the UK and (remotely) with our corporate finance team in North America.

MAIN ACCOUNTING RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete all monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close and corporate reporting, with strict adherence to corporate deadlines and policies.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all accounting records
Process and review journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations and prepayments
Reconcile balance sheet accounts including bank accounts, control accounts, and intercompany balances
Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
Accounts Payable activities including processing incoming vendor invoices for distribution/approval, entry into the company's GL system and payment
Monitor and manage cashflow to ensure sufficient funds for outgoing payments.
Maintain fixed asset register and calculate depreciation
Support budget preparation and produce variance analysis reports
Coordinate year-end audit and prepare supporting schedules
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (UK GAAP or IFRS)
Assist with statutory accounts preparation
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Part-qualified or qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
4+ years accounting experience
Strong technical accounting knowledge
Experience with UK tax and VAT
Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
High attention to detail and accuracy
Highly organised and methodical.
Ability to work calmly under pressure and achieve deadlines.
Adaptable and able to learn quickly.
Polite, professional and collaborative communication manner, but assertive where necessary.
Ability and willingness to maintain strict confidentiality.
High standard of written and verbal English.
