Job Description

We are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to work as a key member of the central Finance Department at Farnham, reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance (Financial Services). You will be responsible for: the financial transactions function including VAT reporting; the maintenance of the University's Financial Regulations; the preparation of the University's annual financial statements; and managing three direct reports.


You will have prepared financial statements in accordance with FRS102 and you will be experienced in managing and developing a team. You will provide both accounting technical and VAT guidance to stakeholders within the University.


Experience of working within a higher education environment will be an advantage.


You will be able to use computer-based accounting systems and demonstrate Microsoft Office software knowledge and have considerable experience in in Excel including X lookup and pivot functions. You must be able to communicate with energy and enthusiasm with stakeholders at all levels using a variety of approaches.


This is a very varied role and your ability to demonstrate that you can work under pressure to a high level of accuracy, work collaboratively with colleagues and manage your day-to-day workload with minimum supervision whilst using your own initiative is essential to the role.


You will be a qualified accountant, eg ICAEW, ACCA, with two years post qualification experience.
