Team Introduction:
Venterra's Geoscience team is made up of market-leading experts from Ordtek, GDG, and Partrac. We offer unparalleled site characterisation, geoscience management, sediment processes, UXO management, and GIS and data services, tailored to meet the comprehensive needs of our clients.
Role Description / Purpose of the role:
This candidate would join at an exciting time as the business experiences a period of rapid growth. This role would suit someone who enjoys having ownership over their day-to-day responsibilities and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This is a great opportunity to utilise your bookkeeping skills, business acumen and your communication skills within the business. This position will report directly to the GDG Finance Director and to the Ordtek Managing Director.
Key responsibilities:
Maintaining the books and records of the business in a number of key areas
Bank - Cash receipts, Cash book - bank reconciliations
Accounts payable - invoices and payments
Expenses and credit card claim processing
Leading and approving sales invoicing
Assisting in preparation of VAT and WHT returns
Leading and co-ordinating Credit Control
Knowledge of General Ledger activity and journal postings
Assisting in the preparation of management accounts journals including contract assets and liabilities
Balance sheet reconciliations
Assisting with monthly forecasting and annual budgeting cycle
Supporting the year end reporting and statutory annual audit
Involvement in process improvements and Ad hoc finance projects as necessary
Assisting with commercial reporting for Backlog & Discounted Pipeline
Key Skills/Experience/Competencies:
Skilled and experienced bookkeeper, with proven finance experience essential.
A relevant accreditation or working towards a professional qualification
Knowledge and experience of accounting software packages - XERO, Netsuite, Sage 50, or similar
Good working knowledge MS Office & Excel (essential)
Well organised - good time management - ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
Professional - Positive attitude - responsible - Motivated - Committed - Flexible - Conscientious
Knowledge of time cost / project management systems an advantage (not essential)
Ideal experience - medium sized engineering/professional service firm
Customer focused - likes helping people & adaptable to a dynamic environment
