Group Finance team

at Octopus, where you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting across a diverse and innovative business.


The Octopus Group operates across a number of sectors, including fund management, money coaching, technology enabled platform services, will writing, divorce services and special educational needs schools, with subsidiary teams reporting their financial data into the Group Finance team who consolidate and report information at a group level.


Job Overview:


We are looking for a commercially aware and technically strong Accountant to join our Group Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will work closely with the three other team members as well as the Commercial Finance and Fund Finance teams.

What you'll be doing




As an Accountant in Group Finance, you'll:

Own the monthly management accounts process for designated entities. Prepare reporting packs and commentary for senior stakeholders. Manage revenue recognition, invoicing, and debtor balances. Handle fund and intercompany recharges with clear documentation. Support bank reconciliations and ensure accurate cash reporting. Assist with audits, statutory accounts, and FCA returns. Build strong relationships across finance teams and contribute to strategic projects.

Qualifications

What we're looking for



A

qualified accountant

(ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent). Strong accounting knowledge and attention to detail. Experience in financial services or investment management is a plus. Commercially minded with a proactive, problem-solving approach. Skilled in Excel and familiar with accounting systems (SUN, Dynamics, Tagetik desirable). Adaptable and confident working in a fast-paced, evolving business.
