Job Purpose
The Financial Analyst will support strategic and operational decision-making by providing detailed financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting. The role involves analysing financial data, identifying trends and risks, and delivering insights to senior management to improve profitability, cost control, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Reporting
Analyse financial statements, management accounts, and operational data to assess business performance.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management.
Monitor key financial KPIs, variances, and trends, providing clear commentary and recommendations.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Support the preparation of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
Track actual performance against budgets and forecasts, investigating variances.
Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
Business & Commercial Analysis
Conduct profitability analysis by product, site, project, or business unit.
Support investment appraisals, feasibility studies, and ROI analysis for new projects or expansions.
Provide scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decisions.
Cost Control & Process Improvement
Review cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
Support the development and improvement of financial models, reporting tools, and internal controls.
Work closely with operational teams to improve financial awareness and performance management.
Compliance & Stakeholder Support
Ensure financial analysis and reporting comply with internal policies and accounting standards.
Support internal and external audits by providing financial data and explanations.
Liaise with internal stakeholders across finance, operations, and senior leadership.
Essential Skills
Strong financial analysis, modelling, and forecasting skills.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial systems and BI tools.
Ability to interpret complex financial data and present insights clearly.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Skills
Experience with budgeting software, ERP systems, or data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI).
Commercial experience in multi-site, retail, hospitality, or service-based environments.
Qualifications & Experience Essential
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a financial analyst, business analyst, or similar analytical role.
Desirable
Part-qualified or qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent.
Experience working in fast-growing or multi-entity organisations.
