The Financial Analyst will support the firm's investment, risk, and business decision making by providing high-quality financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting. Operating within an FCA-regulated environment, the analyst must adhere to relevant financial services regulations, internal compliance standards, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial & Investment Analysis
Conduct detailed financial modelling, valuation, and scenario analysis for products, portfolios, or business units.
Support investment decision-making through research on market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.
Prepare forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses to monitor financial performance.
Evaluate capital allocation, funding needs, and return-on-investment for new projects or strategies.
2. Reporting & Stakeholder Support
Prepare regular management reports, MI packs, and performance dashboards for senior management.
Assist in producing Board-level and regulator-facing financial reports.
Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for internal and external stakeholders.
3. Regulatory & Compliance Awareness
Ensure analysis and reporting comply with FCA rules, especially:
SYSC (Senior Management Arrangements, Systems & Controls).
COBS (Conduct of Business Sourcebook), if producing or using investment research.
PRIN (FCA's Principles for Businesses), especially integrity and treating customers fairly.
Maintain awareness of Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) obligations. While the role may not require FCA approval, the analyst must uphold high ethical and conduct standards.
Work closely with compliance and risk teams to ensure outputs meet regulatory expectations.
4. Risk & Controls o Identify financial risks and provide analytical support to mitigate exposures.
Contribute to stress testing, sensitivity analysis, and scenario planning.
Support internal and external audit processes as needed.
5. Collaboration & Communication
Partner with finance, compliance, operations, and risk teams to deliver accurate and timely insights.
Present financial findings to senior management, clients, or external stakeholders where appropriate.
Support cross-functional projects such as product launches, M&A, or system implementations.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree or above (Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related).
Prior experience in financial services, investment management, banking, or insurance. o Strong knowledge of financial modelling, Excel, and analytical tools (e.g., Power BI, Python, SQL desirable).
Familiarity with FCA regulatory environment and financial reporting standards. Skills & Competencies
