The role:


This person will support the Head of Financial Board support in driving communication and education on financial information across the business. Acting as a key partner to senior leadership, the role holder is responsible for providing support to CFOs, Boards, Board Committees, Executive Committees and other senior management forums across the business by translating complex financial data into clear narratives, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities that support business growth efficiency and value creation. They will be a hands-on individual with a strategic mindset, able to develop processes and support the Head of Financial Board Support in embedding financial insight into decision making across the organisation.


What you'll be doing:

Leadership & Oversight:

Build and maintain effective working relationships with senior members of the Finance Team and ExCo and Board members as required, to ensure effective co-ordination of activities in order to deliver objectives. Contribute to the journey to build and develop SJP's FP&A capabilities.

Strategic support

: Work with CFOs, Boards, Board Committees, Executive Committees and other senior management forums across the business to ensure they have the financial information required to inform and shape decisions and priorities.

Communication:

Support the dissemination of financial insights and understanding across management, Group and entity boards, and wider business via written and verbal communication. In particular, communication through monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting, including external market, management and Board presentations. Including, but not limited to: Statutory reporting Regulatory reporting (including Solvency II) Tax performance and compliance Cash, working capital and other Treasury Information Forecasting (Business Plan and Expense budgeting) Business driver metrics, including FUM and Expenses Analysis of profit emergence Financial risks (Market, Credit, Liquidity, ForEx etc)

Board and Business Partnering:

In conjunction with the wider Financial Business Partnering team, act as a conduit to provide business performance insights to subsidiary Boards (through the relevant CFOs), Directorates and legal entities across SJP by collating accurate, clear, and digestible financial MI, and providing relevant supporting analysis. Provide specialist Finance knowledge where required, liaising with any and all of the respective teams across Finance that are responsible for the underlying financial information to do so.

Governance & Controls:

Support the Head of Financial Board Support in the development and maintenance of robust governance and control over data and
Information for the reporting deliverables, to ensure accurate sharing and presenting of information.


The focus for the role holder and the team is not the creation of the underlying financial information, but rather its presentation.


Who we're looking for:


The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong and effective communication skills that are adaptable to a range of audiences/stakeholders. They will be commercially aware with strong report design, presentation capabilities, knowledge and skills.


They will understand the governance structure and financial activities of the SJP Group and have good links across finance and the wider business. This individual will have strong problem-solving skills and be able to understand the financial models of different businesses, regulatory rules (including Solvency II), external factors and business activities - and how these may impact information requirements.


They will have knowledge of controls and procedures for critical reporting, including managing a control framework, and knowledge of Board level responsibilities and experience of working at Board level and/or with Boards.


They will have proven financial reporting experience, including statutory and regulatory reporting (including regulators of prudential matters, conduct, accounting, tax and ESG), and technical knowledge of financial reporting standards and tax regulation, combined with substantial industry experience (5+ years) and are likely to be 2+ years PQE ACA or financial professional equivalent.


Essential Criteria


Exceptional communication skills - engaging and effective presenter who inspires confidence and trust. Able to analyse performance trends, investigate variances, and translate technical financial data into commercially relevant insights/actions. Able to understand the detail/interactions between the financial models of different businesses, regulatory rules (including Solvency II), external factors and business activities. Commercial and risk awareness of potential implications of reporting. Extensive financial reporting experience - including statutory and regulatory reporting. Knowledge of controls and reports for critical reporting, including managing a control framework. Knowledge of Board level responsibilities. Strong report design, presentation capabilities, knowledge and skills. Able to build strong working relationships across the business.
