Job Description

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Financial Controller to lead and strengthen BrisDoc's finance function ensuring we remain a financially sustainable, forward-thinking, and values-led healthcare organisation.



This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping BrisDoc's financial strategy, governance, and operational performance. You'll work closely with the Commercial & Finance Director and the Leadership Team, providing trusted financial insight, driving improvement, and helping ensure our resources deliver the greatest possible benefit to patients, people, and

communities.

As Financial Controller, you'll oversee all aspects of BrisDoc's financial management -- leading a talented team and ensuring robust financial governance, accurate reporting, and strategic insight that supports the organisation's mission and long-term success. You'll act as both a hands-on technical expert and a trusted strategic partner, providing high-quality financial information to support decision-making across all levels of the organisation.



Your key responsibilities will include:



Financial Leadership and Oversight

Lead the finance function, ensuring strong financial control, compliance, and effective management of all core accounting activities including; general ledger, feeder systems, and reporting.



Strategic Financial Management

Work closely with the Leadership Team to provide financial insight, analysis, and scenario modelling to inform strategic and operational decision-making. Lead annual budgeting and long-term forecasting to support BrisDoc's goals.



Business Partnering and Advisory Support

Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to deliver clear, actionable financial advice. Translate complex data into meaningful insights, supporting efficiency, growth, and innovation across services.

Person Specification



Essential Skills and Experience

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with evidenced post-qualification experience. Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally as a Financial Controller or Head of Finance. Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience managing core accounting functions, audit processes, and risk management. Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and strategic financial analysis. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with digital finance systems and process automation Experience leading and developing finance teams, with a focus on developing technical skills and professional growth. Proven track record of delivering accurate financial reporting in a complex or multi-entity organisation. Strong understanding of financial governance and control in a regulated or not-for-profit sector. Ability to influence and build relationships with senior non-financial colleagues. Excellent presentation skills and experience of reporting to Board or equivalent level. Posses a full UK driving licence and willing to travel to sites

Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience in NHS, social care, or wider healthcare sectors. Experience in maximising efficiency of finance/ERP systems, preferably Sage Intacct Project management or change management experience. Experience in mergers, acquisitions, or organisational restructuring. Understanding of efficiency regimes and key performance metrics in service delivery environments. MBA or postgraduate qualification in business, leadership, or finance.
