About the role


This is a pivotal role within EUI Finance at Admiral, reporting to the EUI CFO. The role focuses on managing the UK Finance, Accounting and Controls team to deliver accounting and reporting for the UK insurance intermediary.


The essential skills we need


Can apply advanced knowledge of IFRS and insurance accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting and maintain strong internal controls. Able to assess accounting processes and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, or compliance. Skilled at identifying control gaps and leading change initiatives that improve process integrity and financial governance. Able to lead and develop a team, setting clear goals, providing coaching, and improving team performance over time. Strong numerical and analytical ability, with a track record of using financial insight to support commercial decision-making. Effective and impactful communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.

Qualifications and Knowledge


Five or more years of post-qualification experience with a recognised accountancy qualification and a strong academic background. Strong working knowledge of IFRS and insurance accounting, experience in accounting processes, and a strong understanding of financial controls.





What you'll be doing


As the lead of our UK Insurance Financial Accounting and Controls team, you'll support a brilliant group of qualified and trainee accountants to deliver our finance goals, while developing their skills and careers along the way.


You'll help us maintain a strong and well-controlled finance environment across our UK Insurance intermediary, ensuring that our accounting processes, financial ledgers, and data sources are accurate, consistent, and in line with accounting standards.


You'll play a key role in producing and consolidating management accounts, leading monthly close processes, and ensuring all reporting is timely, clear, and compliant with group policies and statutory requirements.


You'll build strong relationships across the business to help improve reporting lines and control procedures, staying curious and connected to our products and customer journeys so you can evolve our accounting and control processes as we grow and change.


You'll also:


Oversee our regulatory and VAT returns, ensuring we meet all required obligations. Support operational finance activities like bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and maintaining liquidity in line with group and regulatory requirements. Lead on our payments strategy, including line management of the Payments Strategy and Partnership Manager, and act as a key stakeholder in our payments transformation work. Be part of our wider finance transformation journey - working with senior leadership and change teams to improve systems, data, and processes. Take the lead in managing third-party suppliers to finance, in line with Admiral's risk management approach. Work closely with our internal risk and audit teams, as well as external auditors, to meet reporting requirements. And last but not least - be a collaborative and values-driven member of our finance leadership team, helping our wider function support the business and deliver real value.
