This role is finance, systems, compliance and a bit of everything in between. You'll keep the finances in order and be involved in the rollout of our new ERP system (Prophet 21).

We're now looking for a detail-focused Financial Controller to take the reins from our long-serving postholder. This is more than a finance role -- it's a chance to play a central part in modernising the way we run the business.

The Role

This role combines finance leadership with business systems ownership, making it a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys detail, structure and problem-solving. You'll be responsible for the full finance function while also assisting in the rollout of Prophet 21 (Epicor), our new ERP system -- shaping how our processes, data and reporting work for years to come.

Day-to-day, your key roles will be:

Leading the month-end close, reconciliations, and management reporting Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and revenue recognition Managing stock and inventory accounting (including quarterly counts and variance analysis) Preparing VAT, PAYE and NI returns, and supporting year-end accounts and compliance Coordinating audits and liaising with our long-standing accountants and advisors Supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and performance reporting Driving system and process improvements across finance and operations Monitoring daily cash balances, working capital, and bank reconciliations Processing payroll for office staff and managing credit insurance cover Supervising and developing members of the finance team
And most importantly -- you'll be our champion of Prophet 21, learning the system inside out and supporting its implementation across the company.

About You

We're looking for someone who thrives on detail, structure and continuous improvement. You may be an experienced Financial Controller, or you might be a strong finance professional ready for the step up. Either way, you'll be someone who enjoys taking ownership, learning new systems, and making things run smoothly.

You'll need:

Proven experience in finance management (Financial Controller or similar role) Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of financial controls ATT or similar financial qualifications Experience with stock/inventory accounting (advantageous but not essential) Confidence with finance and ERP/accounting systems (Epicor Prophet 21 is a bonus) High levels of organisation, accuracy and methodical thinking Strong communication skills -- able to work with colleagues across all levels A proactive mindset: curious, adaptable and ready to learn what you don't know yet
