Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee our organisation's financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance, ensuring the organisation's financial health and integrity. This role requires a strong background in financial management, proficiency with SAGE accounting software, and the ability to lead financial strategies effectively. The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in supporting strategic decision-making and maintaining robust financial controls across all departments. Construction industry related experience desired.

Responsibilities

Prepare, analyse, and present accurate financial statements in accordance with recognised accounting standards. Oversee all accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger management. Utilise accounting software Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and internal policies through regular audits and reviews. Manage cash flow, optimise financial processes, and implement cost-saving initiatives where appropriate. Lead month-end and year-end closing processes efficiently while ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Provide strategic advice to senior management on financial planning, risk management, and investment opportunities.

Experience

Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role within a dynamic organisation, particularly construction sector. Extensive knowledge of financial management principles and practices. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, along with strong skills in using various accounting programmes. Demonstrable experience managing accounts payable and receivable processes effectively. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately. Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA or CIMA are desirable but not essential.
