Financial Controller & Bookkeeper

The
Financial Controller & Bookkeeper
at ONE LDN will play a vital role in managing all financial aspects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic decisions. You will be responsible for overseeing payroll, VAT submissions, bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial reporting for the company and its expanding entities.
Key Responsibilities:Payroll Management
Handle monthly payroll processing for full-time and irregular staff (Front of House) across ONE LDN and group companies, ensuring timely submissions to external payroll companies.
Double-check staff commission calculations and ensure accurate wage payments.
Update holiday entitlements and maintain employee records in the HR Management system.
Manage pension enrolments and updates via SMART Pension.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
Keep Xero up-to-date with weekly and monthly invoices, payroll, and supplier payments for all group companies.
Prepare monthly and annual accounts, profit and loss (P&L) statements, and balance sheets.
Ensure the timely preparation of VAT submissions and error checks for all entities.
Perform trial balance reviews and prepare the year-end for external accountants.
Prepare monthly reports
Cash Flow & Budgeting
Prepare and update weekly and monthly cash flow statements.
Produce payment plans in line with the company's budget and financial forecasting.
Reconcile supplier and customer payments, including PT rent and corporate contracts.
Monitor third-party revenue platforms (Hussle, ClassPass, GymPass) for timely collections.
Assist with financial modelling
Membership Revenue Management
Produce daily and monthly reports from the club management system and the CRM, tracking new registrations, attendance, and membership transactions.
Manage debtors' collections, ensuring timely retrieval of payments from members in dunning status.
Regularly review and correct revenue discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
Compliance & Regulatory Duties
Prepare and submit annual confirmation statements for all group companies.
Ensure compliance with UK tax laws, including PAYE payments and HMRC updates.
VAT registration for any new group companies, ensuring regulatory compliance as the brand expands.

Professional Competencies:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification preferred.
Experience:
3-5 years in a similar role, preferably within the fitness, wellness, or hospitality sector.
Software Proficiency:
Advanced skills in Xero and MS Excel.
Knowledge of UK Accounting Standards:
Strong understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS, VAT, PAYE, and pension regulations.
