This position is intended to provide the main Finance support for the UK Metals (Glossop and Ickles) business within Howmet Engines. The role reports to the Segment Controller (Metals & Alloys) with a dotted line to the Plant Managers of Glossop and Ickles. This is a hands-on high-impact position ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
As a critical member of the site management teams, the role is designed to provide financial information to the business to enable decision making. Important duties include the provision of timely and accurate management accounting information, via the preparation of daily metrics and performance reports, spend analyses, forecasts and budgets; maintaining a suitable compliance environment in line with group policies and best practice; and management of the finance team.
It is a key duty of the role to ensure that colleagues understand the management information supplied and correct actions are taken as a result.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
Produce the month end accounts through to completion in line with HES reporting deadlines
Review accounts against plan/ forecast, explaining any variances
Reconcile the accounts in line with HES ASAT requirements
Ownership of the daily, weekly and monthly financial reporting processes
Check book control and reporting versus plan/forecast
Sales and margin analysis as required
Continuous Improvement and audit of internal procedures
Carry out ad-hoc tasks as required by the Segment Controller
Ownership of financial transactions, forecasts and plans
Present data to management as and when required
Other local (UK) compliance responsibilities e.g. VAT reporting
Key contact point and responsibility for internal and external audits
Cost accounting
Management of inventory
Review of production variances
Capital Equipment requests and ownership of the associated accounts
Review of systems and analysis of risk
Maintaining records and preparing management information, including MBR packs, Forecast Review Packs and Budgetary information

Experience
Experience in similar position
Essential: Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements
Strong track record of leading process improvements, with tangible examples of outcomes/achievements
Strong experience leading financial reporting
