Your Apartment is one of the UK's leading serviced apartment operators, offering stylish, comfortable and affordable accommodation across Bristol, London, Milton Keynes and beyond. We're a lean, fast-growing business with over 450 apartments under management.
We're now looking for a
hands-on Financial Controller
to take ownership of our finance function. This isn't a corporate reporting role -- it's about rolling up your sleeves, bringing structure and accuracy to a busy, high-volume business. You'll be the finance department, so confidence, initiative and a "get it done" attitude are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Take full ownership of all financial operations, including reconciliations, payments, and reporting.
Produce monthly management accounts, P&Ls, balance sheets, and cashflow forecasts.
Prepare annual accounts and liaise with external accountants for filing and audit.
Monitor and report on performance across multiple entities, properties, and cost centres.
Maintain control over accruals, prepayments, and intercompany transfers.
Cashflow & Transaction Oversight
Manage daily cashflow and forecast short/medium-term liquidity needs.
Oversee high-volume incoming and outgoing payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Review supplier payments, rent, utilities, commissions, and payroll on a weekly basis.
Keep a close eye on debtor balances and support credit control processes.
Process & System Management
Maintain and improve processes across Xero, Mews, and related systems.
Implement financial discipline and controls across departments (Ops, Sales, etc).
Develop reporting templates and dashboards for the Directors.
Streamline financial workflows and automate repetitive tasks wherever possible.
Tax, Compliance & Audit
Manage VAT returns, ensuring correct treatment across multiple revenue streams.
Handle corporation tax, PAYE, and other statutory obligations.
Support grant, funding, or financing applications as required.
Strategic Input
Provide financial insight to support growth plans, new leases, and investments.
Build budgets and forecasts for new sites, CapEx, and expansion projects.
Act as a trusted business partner to the founders, helping shape decision-making.
About You
You'll be a practical, commercially-minded accountant who thrives in a fast-paced SME environment. You'll be as comfortable reconciling a bank account as you are presenting monthly financials to the Directors.
Essential:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience.
Experience managing end-to-end finance in an SME (ideally hospitality, property or multi-site).
Strong working knowledge of Xero or Quickbooks and Excel (Google Sheets also a plus).
Ability to manage high transaction volumes accurately and efficiently.

Proactive, independent and capable of building structure where there isn't any.
Desirable:
Experience with Mews PMS or similar booking/operations systems.
Familiarity with multi-entity accounting and intercompany reconciliations.
Understanding of VAT in hospitality and serviced accommodation.
What We Offer
The chance to take full ownership of the finance function in a growing, ambitious company.

Competitive salary with potential for progression as the company grows.
