Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of our organisation, Bike Shed Moto Co in Shoreditch, which includes Hospitality, Retail, Club and Events business, based in London, with a subsidiary in Los Angeles.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance, ensuring the organisation's financial health and integrity. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in financial management and accounting software to contribute to strategic decision-making and organisational growth.

Duties

Prepare, analyse, and present accurate financial statements in accordance with recognised accounting standards. Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Manage accounts payable processes and ensure timely payments to vendors and suppliers. Maintain and optimise the organisation's utilisation of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and internal policies through regular audits and reviews. Lead the implementation of financial controls to safeguard organisational assets. Collaborate with senior management to develop strategic plans based on financial data insights. Supervise finance team members and coordinate external audits as required.

Experience

Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role, ideally covering hospitality and events and/or retail. Extensive knowledge of financial management principles and practices. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or comparable programmes. Solid knowledge of VAT and Payroll. Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general ledger management. Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed financial reports and analyse complex data sets. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Relevant professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable but not essential.
