Job Overview:

I am working with a fantastic organisation based in Central Manchester who are going through a period of excellent growth, with share price growing 90% YTD, and exciting prospects for future development, both organically and through M&A.

This newly created Financial Controller role will play a pivotal part in the development of a small finance function, supporting the CFO and managing a small team overseas.

Directly reporting to the CFO, this role has significant opportunity for career development, gaining invaluable PLC exposure, and working closely with SLT to support business improvement.

Location: Central Manchester + hybrid working (3 days in the office)

Main Duties:

  • Assisting CFO in preparing / reviewing the monthly management accounts for the board pack
  • Preparation and management of the budget and forecast.
  • Take ownership of the month end result to ensure actuals and budgets are accurately recorded.
  • Meet with budget holders monthly and share with them the current P&L results.
  • Assist in managing the audit and responding to audit queries.
  • Manage the UK payroll and implement process improvements.
  • Assist the CFO with acquisition accounting and integration.
  • In the absence of the CFO, coordinate with the finance team overseas.
  • Provide support to staff in the UK on ad hoc basis.
  • Coordinate and support the CFO with the detailed external reporting to the shareholders.
  • Prepare analysis for company strategic decisions including 5-year plans.
  • Drive improvements in the reporting systems and accounting processes.
  • Co-ordinate the production of detailed quarterly rolling forecasts.
  • Line Management responsibilities for the Financial Analyst and Accounts Receivable Officer.
  • Manage and prepare key financial reports and analysis, guiding the Financial Analyst.
  • Lead from a finance perspective on pricing for all divisions.
  • Assist the CFO by preparing revenue models for pitches to prospective partners.
  • Represent finance at key business meetings.
  • Cash flow reporting and forecasting - ensuring that the CFO is clear on future cash tight points.
  • Produce new value-add revenue and expense reports for all divisions.
  • Work closely with the CFO and CEO to ensure that the board is prepared for investor discussions.
  • Manage the billing and collections (with the support of the CFO) of company partners.
  • Ensuring regular communication with key partners and building rapport with them.
  • Work with the Finance Lead abroad to ensure that refunds are processed accurately and timely.
Person Specification:
  • ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA Qualified.
  • Relevant experience of financial and management accounts.
  • Able to support the business function and senior management team.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of disseminating financial information to both finance, and none finance individuals.
  • Experience working in an environment with tight deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skill set.
