Job Description


Grafton Banks Finance Ltd is pleased to be supporting a family-owned construction business in the Meopham area with their recruitment of a Financial Controller. This role is newly created and will play a pivotal part in the businesses long term planning and success.

The role will initially focus on reviewing and setting up robust accounting procedures, implementing a new financial timetable, improving the quality and accuracy of the existing accounting records and management accounts, ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are up to date, clean and ready for data migration purposes, and building strong in-house relationships with the existing finance team and other departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the finance team (team of 3) including recruitment, training, monitoring staff performance and development.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Comply with all legal requirements.
  • Implement and coordinate monthly financial timetable.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports/management accounts (monthly/quarterly/annually).
  • Review and analyse company performance.
  • Produce monthly financial reporting pack for the Board of Directors (including KPI reporting).
  • Monitor, calculate and report on Work in Progress.
  • Monitor & control cashflow & funding.
  • Bank administration.
  • Oversee and monitor payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit control.
  • Monitor and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Monthly and yearend close administration.
  • Prepare annual budgets and rolling monthly forecasts.
  • Prepare and coordination annual audit process.
  • Assist and contribute to adhoc finance projects e.g. new ERP software implementation and data migration from legacy system.
To be suitable for the role your profile will be similar to the following:
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Team management experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Previous experience of ERP accounting software implementation and data migration advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Sage, Dynamics 365, Business Central advantageous.
This is paying a salary of circa \xc2\xa360,000 - \xc2\xa365,000 + benefits.

The finance department currently works 3 days per week in the office and 2 days from home.
