Role Description



The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the finance team and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with UK accounting standards, and robust financial controls. The role plays a key part in supporting strategic decision-making through accurate financial analysis and forecasting. This position also ensures the organisation meets all regulatory requirements and internal control standards.

Duties and Responsibilities



Monthly Reporting

Timely and accurate preparation and submission of management accounts including full balance sheet reconciliations and departmental P&L's with analysis.
Financial Reporting & Compliance

Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns, VAT, and other statutory filings (HMRC, Companies House).
Financial Controls & Risk Management

Monitor and manage financial risk, including cash flow, credit, and currency exposure.
Budgeting & Forecasting

Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic re-forecasting.
Team Leadership

Manage and develop the finance team, ensuring effective performance, development, and succession planning.
Other Ad Hoc Projects

Candidate Requirements



Key Skills and Competencies



Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong leadership and team management capabilities. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP, Oracle).

Qualifications and Experience



ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified. Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience, including experience in a senior finance role. Experience in both SMEs and larger organisations is beneficial including experience of working in an international organisation. Previous audit experience (either in-practice or managing external audits) is desirable.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 65,000.00-72,500.00 per year
