Role Purpose



The Finance Clerk will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial administration of Sweet Science Academy. The role ensures that all financial transactions, records, and reporting are accurate, timely, and compliant with organisational and funding requirements.

Key Responsibilities



Process and record all financial transactions including invoices, receipts, and payments. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage). Support with payroll preparation and expense claims. Reconcile bank statements and petty cash accounts. Prepare and issue invoices to schools, local authorities, and funding partners. Track income and expenditure related to education programmes and projects. Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports. Support budget monitoring and financial forecasting activities. Liaise with suppliers, clients, and staff regarding financial queries. Ensure all financial documentation is securely filed and audit-ready. Support funding bids and grant reporting by providing accurate financial data.

Person Specification



Essential:



Proven experience in a finance or accounts administration role. Strong understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Good organisational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable:



Experience working in an education, charity, or sports organisation. Knowledge of local authority or education funding structures. AAT Level 2 or equivalent qualification in accounting or finance.
