Edwards Diving Services are a highly experienced multi-disciplined Marine & Civil Engineering contractor delivering complex projects on critical infrastructure for the ever-evolving engineering landscape. As a growing business, we are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to lead and enhance our financial operations--ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and profitability across all projects and departments.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, the Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the company's financial activities. This is a hands-on position involving daily financial monitoring, reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Compliance: Lead annual audits, produce statutory accounts, and ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards. Continuously improve financial processes for greater efficiency and transparency.
Cost Control & Project Finance: Monitor project spending, invoicing, and budget tracking to maintain financial accuracy and accountability.
Financial Systems & Processes: Develop and refine finance systems, including timesheet management and cost control tools.
Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly financial reports for the Directors, offering insights into trends, cost-saving opportunities, and EBITDA growth.
Financial Strategy: Provide strategic advice to improve financial management, streamline costs, and drive profitability.
Collaboration: Partner with project teams to embed robust financial controls across the business.
About You
Experience in a finance role within construction or a project-based industry.
Strong knowledge of cost control, project finance, and financial reporting.
Proven ability to analyse financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
Experience with audited financial systems and financial controls.
A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA); chartered status preferred but not essential.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Advanced Excel skills and strong IT proficiency.
A proactive, hands-on approach with a methodical and process-driven mindset.
