The Role



We're looking for a qualified Financial Controller to run the

full finance function

across our small international group. You'll be hands-on with day-to-day bookkeeping while also producing accurate, timely management information and statutory filings. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and improving processes in a modern, cloud-first environment.

Key Responsibilities



Bookkeeping & Ledgers:

Own day-to-day bookkeeping in

Xero

(multi-entity, multi-currency), bank reconciliations, accruals/prepayments, intercompany journals.

VAT & Indirect Tax:

Prepare and submit UK and UAE VAT returns (MTD compliant), reconcile VAT control accounts, manage queries with HMRC.

Management Reporting:

Produce

monthly management accounts

(P&L, balance sheet, cash flow), KPI packs and commentary; variance analysis vs budget/forecast.

Year-End & Statutory:

Prepare

year-end accounts

and supporting audit files; coordinate with external accountants/auditors. Prepare and/or support

Company Tax Returns (CT600)

.

Credit Control:

Oversee billing cadence, debtor reviews, collections workflow, and dispute resolution; maintain strong DSO metrics.

Payroll & Pensions:

Run monthly payroll and

auto-enrolment pension

submissions; maintain RTI compliance and year-end filings (P60/P11D support).

Cash & Controls:

Short- and medium-term cash-flow forecasting; maintain robust financial controls, approvals and documentation.

UAE Entity Support:

Assist with bookkeeping and monthly close for UAE entity; coordinate with local advisors for compliance.

Systems & Process Improvement:

Champion automation and clean data in Xero and connected apps; streamline close timelines and reporting.

About You



Professional qualification:

ACCA / ACA / CIMA

(qualified).

Experience:

Proven track record running the

end-to-end finance function

for an SME or small group (multi-entity experience essential).

Technical:

Strong Xero skills (including bank rules, tracking categories, consolidations via add-ons), excellent Excel/Google Sheets, solid grasp of UK GAAP and UK VAT.

Nice to have:

Exposure to UAE bookkeeping/compliance, intercompany and multi-currency consolidations, experience with credit control tooling and payroll platforms (e.g. Xero Payroll, BrightPay).

Mindset:

Commercial, detail-oriented, deadline-driven; comfortable working autonomously and improving processes.

Location :

Although this is a fully flexible and remote working opportunity you must be within travelling distance of the office for training days.
Salary is 50k FTE

Private Healthcare after probation

Pay: Up to 50,000.00 per year
