As Financial Controller you are responsible for the company\xe2\x80\x99s financial operations and compliance. You\xe2\x80\x99ll work as part of the company\xe2\x80\x99s finance team, reporting to the VP of Finance and managing freelance bookkeeper and external adviser relationships.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll be responsible for financial reporting, statements, treasury management and planning, insurance, financial processes and efficiency and ensuring all accounting activities comply with regulations in the countries where we operate. You should have a good understanding of international finance and group accounting. You should be able to implement improvements across our financial operations, collaborating with other departments in the company. You should be able to identify risk, maintain robust controls and measures in regards to financial compliance. You should be able to produce thorough reporting on company financials as well contributing key input to financial modelling to support the company\xe2\x80\x99s strategic goals and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, expenses and banking.
  • Manage external relationships with accountants and suppliers including the company\xe2\x80\x99s external bookkeeper.
  • Ensure an efficient and timely month end close, including accurate journal entry postings and thorough review of bank recs, WIP and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts, including variance analysis to budgets/forecast.
  • Play a key role in producing the annual budget/projections and use it as a basis for monthly progress reporting.
  • Manage an efficient year-end audit and close process, including ownership and coordination of the preparation of all financial statements and statutory accounts in the countries that we operate in, as well as all other tax and compliance preparation and filings (alongside our advisors).
  • Ensure all financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
  • Work with external advisors and internal stakeholders to complete the annual submission of research and development tax credit claims and maintain internal records.
  • Responsible for working capital and cash management - maintain a positive cashflow and take appropriate action to maintain or increase our cash buffer as needed.
  • Management of group insurance policies and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Management of financial process and policy documentation.
  • Support ad hoc strategic finance projects and collaborate with other teams in the company on cross-functional projects.
Requirements
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualification with 5+ years of post-qualified finance experience
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of financial and accountancy practices and compliance in the UK
  • Experience and knowledge of financial and accountancy practices and compliance globally, including the USA & Australia
  • Experience with group accounting, intercompany balances and transfer pricing practices and requirements
  • Experience of sourcing credit and managing cash flow
  • Extensive experience of financial and accountancy tools, particularly Xero
  • Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Experience and knowledge of professional services in technology, ideally in an agency environment
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be highly organised to ensure deadlines are met
  • Ability to manage, implement and improve financial processes alongside BAU responsibilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with our clients
