Project & Co is a fast-growing, multi-disciplinary property consultancy providing surveying, valuation, project management, and specialist services to clients across the UK. With ambitious expansion plans and an evolving portfolio of services, we are seeking a highly capable Financial Controller to oversee all aspects of financial management, reporting, and strategy within the Group.
Role Purpose
The Financial Controller will be responsible for maintaining robust financial systems and controls, managing day-to-day finance operations, and providing clear analysis to support commercial decision-making. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering exposure to senior leadership and direct involvement in shaping the financial strategy of a high-growth consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including management accounts, statutory accounts, VAT, payroll, and cash flow.
Develop and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and reporting processes.
Prepare monthly management accounts and present key findings to the Directors.
Deliver accurate budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across multiple divisions.
Manage working capital, ensuring efficient invoicing, credit control, and supplier payments.
Oversee audit processes and liaise with external accountants, auditors, and HMRC.
Support M&A activity and integration of new acquisitions.
Implement and develop finance systems to improve reporting and scalability.
Provide commercial insight to help drive profitability and support business growth.
Supervise and develop finance team members, ensuring a culture of accuracy and accountability.
Skills & Experience
Minimum 2 years of proven experience in Finance. Not mandatory but preferred.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with UK accounting standards.
Experience in managing multi-entity and multi-discipline business finances.
Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Xero, or equivalent) and advanced Excel user.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at Board level.
