Gentoo is looking for a Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant to join our well-established Finance team at our head office in Doxford Park, Sunderland.


In this key role, you'll support Gentoo's long-term financial planning and provide insightful analysis to enable proactive decision-making by our Board and Executive team. You'll lead the submission of regulatory returns and offer business partnering support to our Affordable Development team--helping us deliver value for money and better outcomes for our customers.

The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo.



Key responsibilities:



Develop Gentoo's long-term financial planning and forecasting activities.


Production of financial returns due to the Regulator of Social Housing, ensuring they are completed with a high degree of accuracy and on time.


Appraise and critically challenge development investment decisions to ensure optimal outcomes are achieved for the Group.


Reporting and analytics of the corporate key financial performance indicators


Provide timely, accurate and comprehensive business insights using both internally generated and external benchmark information to both internal and external stakeholders.


The provision of strategic advice, training, support and guidance in relation to Finance activities.


What we are looking for:



It is essential that you:



Are a fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent post-graduate accounting qualification) with demonstrable post-qualification experience working in Financial Planning & Analysis or a similar role.


Hold extensive knowledge of external and internal reporting cycles, including statutory report preparation, management account preparation and analysis.


Have demonstrable experience in transforming financial systems and reporting processes to drive better ways of working that lead to operational and financial efficiencies.


Have strong influencing skills, applying appropriate critique and challenge to data and commentary presented to support decision-making.


Can demonstrate strong numeracy skills with advanced data modelling and analytical skills, using MS Excel and other data analysis and forecasting tools.


Can clearly present complex financial information to a range of stakeholders, including senior management and Board Members.


Experience in using investment appraisal techniques to support decision-making, ideally in a housing development context.


Have a customer-first approach with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with both internal and external customers to ensure that we are collaborative and continue to meet all of our customer and colleague expectations.


Are commercially aware with the ability to use your judgment to compare and evaluate options and make informed decisions based on the data, especially for new issues where there is no precedent to follow.


Can critically analyse, interpret and evaluate large volumes of highly complex data at speed, with accuracy, to achieve outcomes by required strict deadlines.
