The Risk and Compliance function within the Marketing Finance team provide senior management, the Front Office teams and the Head of Risk & Compliance, with transparency into the financial exposure, the profit/loss results and risks being run in the different commodity trading and marketing portfolios

The Financial Trade Operations Specialist (Commodities) is an experienced professional who contributes relevant market knowledge and process excellence recommendations to overall derivatives trading flow from front to back office day-to-day operations. This role is responsible for the middle-office functions and processes, including but not limited to trade validation, confirmation, invoicing, and regulatory reporting in related to commodity derivatives trading activities.

As senior member of the team, the role will be involved in bringing about process improvement and participate in projects initiatives. The role is expected to fill in for the Team Lead during periods of absence and assume oversight to ensure Financial Trade Operation (FTO) team perform and deliver in line with deliverables and expectations set out by the FTO Team Lead and Global Risk Reporting Manager.



Trade validation and confirmation

  • Perform validation and confirmation processes for Marketing financial trades, ensuring accuracy of inputs into P&L and exposure reporting, settlements and margining processes. Margining processes include margin administration for trading position with clearing partners and other counterparties.
  • Ensure transactional deal costs are captured and checked against broker statement or invoices received, any dispute is investigated, and outstanding amount are settled on time.
  • Commodity coverage includes (but not limited to) Thermal Coal, Base Metals, Iron Ore, Quant Trading, Recycled Steel, Emissions and LNG.
  • Liaise with Front Office, brokers, and counterparties on trade data dispute when necessary.
  • Managing brokers and counterparties relationship, provide effective feedbacks.
  • Review broker fee schedules in Aspect and work with Information Management when update is required.
  • Responsible for financial trade data integrity.
  • Contribute to team overall Follow-the-sun operating model and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Review workflow instructions detailing operating procedures and ensure updates of the documentations.
  • Audit support.
Margining and collateral management
  • Understand MTM movements impact on daily VM calculation.
  • Support Risk Reporting team with trade level details on VM discrepancy investigation.
Regulatory Reporting
  • Possess knowledge on Commodities derivatives reporting requirements under various jurisdictions.
  • Manage and validate reporting data to the risk management systems, ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of daily submission to DTCC via DeltaconX.
  • Review and address reconciliation results from trade repositories as well as handling of failed reports, errors and exceptions.
  • Follow up on root cause fixing and escalate to Line Manager when necessary or weekly.
  • Able to drive effective and efficient communication with front office, trade validation, information management, external vendor, compliance and relevant counterparties.
  • Keep updated with latest regulatory implementation and best market practice.
Support on-boarding of new trading activities
  • Execution of User Acceptance Testing (\'UAT\') for new business, trading products, trading systems and trade reconciliation tool.
  • Embed back-office trade support and regulatory reporting processes for new trading activities, ensuring consistency of procedures and timings.
Qualifications

Academic credentials in Business or Finance at a minimum level of a degree/diploma

Knowledge
  • 3- 8 years relevant experience supporting commodities derivative trading activities
  • Understanding of trading environment and commodity markets.
  • Trade validation and confirmation processes.
  • Maintaining key stakeholder relationships.
  • Credible communications and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable in working with systems and spreadsheets.
  • Familiar with excel/ VBA
