Role Overview
We are seeking a
Fire Alarm Service & Small Works Engineer
to join our team. The role is ideal for someone with solid practical experience in servicing fire alarm systems and carrying out smaller works such as
minor modifications, system adjustments, and remedial repairs
--rather than full new installations.
This is a hands-on, field-based role attending a variety of client sites across the South Coast. The work ranges from scheduled servicing and inspections to completing small installation works (such as adding devices, replacing detectors, or upgrading panels) and resolving non-critical faults.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out
routine servicing and maintenance
of fire alarm systems in line with BS 5839.
Complete
small works
such as system modifications, device additions, or replacement panels.
Identify and rectify
minor faults
and complete follow-up remedial works.
Provide clear communication to clients on completed works and any outstanding actions.
Complete all reports and certification accurately and on time.
Participate in the
out-of-hours callout rota
(typically 1 evening a week and 1 in 4-5 weekends).
Ideal Candidate
Previous experience working with
conventional and addressable fire alarm systems
.
Competent in fault finding, remedial works, and basic installations.
Familiarity with
Advanced and Kentec
systems is beneficial.
Understanding of BS 5839 Parts 1 & 6.
Holds relevant industry qualifications (e.g., FIA Units, ECS Card, etc.).
Full UK driving licence.
Able to work independently and manage daily workload effectively.
Friendly and professional with good communication skills.
Working Hours
40 to 50 hours per week (including travel time)
"Door-to-door" travel paid
Occasional flexibility required to meet client needs

Pay: 14.00-26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
