We are seeking a skilled Fire Engineer to support the design, assessment and delivery of fire safety solutions across a range of residential, commercial and industrial projects. This role involves ensuring compliance with relevant fire legislation, developing fire strategies, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, robust and efficient building designs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop fire strategies for new-build and existing buildings in line with current regulations and industry guidance.
Complete fire risk assessments, fire modelling, building performance analysis and evacuation modelling as required.
Review architectural, structural and MEP designs to ensure compliance with fire safety standards.
Provide technical fire engineering advice to clients, design teams, contractors and local authorities.
Prepare detailed reports, drawings and documentation to support planning, approvals and compliance.
Conduct site inspections to verify fire safety measures during construction and post-completion.
Support Building Safety Act and High-Risk Building (HRB) compliance where required.
Undertake fire strategy reviews for existing buildings, including facade and cladding assessments.
Liaise with external stakeholders, such as Approved Inspectors, Fire & Rescue Services and regulatory bodies.
Stay up to date with changes in fire legislation, codes of practice and best-practice guidance.
Skills & Experience Required
Experience working as a Fire Engineer, Fire Safety Consultant or Fire Risk Assessor within the built environment.
Strong understanding of fire legislation, Approved Documents
Experience producing fire strategies and technical fire safety reports.
Knowledge of fire dynamics, fire modelling tools or evacuation modelling (e.g. FDS, Pathfinder) is beneficial.
Ability to interpret building regulations, drawings, specifications and construction details.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to relay complex technical information clearly.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Degree in Fire Engineering, Building Services, Structural Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Membership or working towards membership of the IFE (desirable).
