Role Overview
Fire Engineers play a crucial role within the organisation, offering expert guidance on fire safety for a range of projects. Drawing upon a strong understanding of legislation, specialist codes of practice, and fire safety guidance, Fire Engineers ensure compliance and contribute to the design of safe, sustainable buildings.
Key aspects of the role include
Applying professional judgement and fire engineering expertise to interpret or deviate from standard guidance where appropriate.
Using mathematical and scientific principles to evaluate fire risks to people, structures, and the environment.
Aligning fire safety solutions with both regulatory requirements and client objectives.
Responsibilities
A s a Fire Engineer, you'll be an integral member of a collaborative team. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll work closely with internal stakeholders and clients across all stages of the project lifecycle--from concept design to construction, commissioning, and beyond.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading small to medium-sized projects as the Project Engineer, with support from the Project Manager.
Developing expertise in fire safety design and engineering principles.
Supporting the creation of technical/tender designs, construction work packages, and conducting site surveys and visits.
Producing fire strategy documents and technical engineering reports.
Enhancing your project management skills.
Applying digital tools and contributing to high standards of quality assurance.
Supporting regional technical excellence through continuous learning and innovation.
Working across a diverse project portfolio in the UK and internationally.
Delivering fire safety assurance during construction phases.
Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Providing ethical and outcome-focused consultancy services.
Desirable Skills (Not Essential)
F amiliarity with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for smoke modelling and analysis.
Experience using fire modelling software such as CFAST, Pyrosim, or Pathfinder to develop alternative fire safety solutions.

A Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant is an experienced team member who provides expert advice on various projects within the built environment throughout different stages of the project life cycle. In addition to their technical expertise, they assume responsibility for managing project tasks and ensuring successful project delivery on large-scale and/or technically challenging projects.
A Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant is a crucial project team member. They oversee and fully manage large-scale and/or technical projects and lead a team of Engineers/Surveyors/Consultants. They play a significant role in mentoring and developing their team members' careers. A Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant is instrumental in securing new business through repeat work and engaging in business development activities.
