Fire Safety Consultant (Design Compliance & FSMP)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced

Fire Safety Consultant

to support the review and delivery of fire safety design and compliance work across key infrastructure projects. You will ensure that all designs meet the required fire safety standards and regulations, provide practical guidance on fire protection systems, and coordinate with design teams to deliver compliant, safe, and efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Review current design packages for compliance with the

Fire Safety Management Plan (FSMP)

and relevant fire safety standards (e.g.

BS 9999

,

NFPA 850

). Advise on

fire detection

,

alarm

, and

suppression systems

for

BESS units

,

transformers

, and associated structures. Confirm adequacy of

fire-water supplies

,

tanks

,

hydrants

, and

firefighting access

. Work closely with design teams to integrate

fire protection

and

suppression strategies

across all project areas. Update and finalise the

Fire Safety Management Plan (FSMP)

for submission and approval. Produce

Fire Safety Compliance Reports

and

Validation Statements

at project handover.

Requirements

Strong experience in

fire safety engineering

,

design compliance

, or

risk management

. Knowledge of UK fire safety standards and legislation (BS 9999, NFPA 850, FSMP requirements). Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and compliance documentation. Good communication and report-writing skills. Willingness to collaborate with multidisciplinary design and project teams.

Pay: 30.00-50.00 per hour
