Fire Engineer



We are seeking a

Fire Engineer

to provide design and project coordination support within our specialist Fire Safety Division, part of our established Health & Safety Consultancy. You will collaborate with a wide range of clients and internal teams across all RIBA stages, including Fire Safety, PD/BR, and PD/CDM.

Our consultancy has been delivering safety management and advisory services for over 20 years. We pride ourselves on offering expert guidance that not only ensures compliance with regulations but also takes a proactive, solution-focused approach to client needs.

The Opportunity



As a Fire Engineer, you'll join a collaborative team that values both tradition and innovation. You will work on diverse projects--education, retail, commercial, industrial, and social housing--providing fire engineering design, risk advice and project coordination.

You will also:

Produce fire strategies and designs. Peer review and provide technical input to prevent fire spread and manage risk across all RIBA stages. Support contractors with site inspections and compliance. Conduct site visits, surveys and post-construction reporting throughout the Home Counties, London and the South East. Collaborate closely with colleagues and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
This role is ideal for Fire Engineers with varied project backgrounds, strong technical knowledge and the drive to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Experience & Responsibilities



We are looking for candidates with experience in some or all of the following:

Preparing client fee proposals and quotations. Producing Fire Strategy reports. Providing technical fire safety advice across a range of building types, with a focus on high-rise residential developments. Supporting compliance with Building Regulations (e.g. Approved Document B) and wider fire safety legislation. Advising on duties under the Building Safety Act. Reviewing technical documentation (plans, elevations, design details, etc.). Familiarity with relevant British Standards such as BS 9991 and BS 9999. Exposure to or understanding of CFD and CEM modelling. Attending and contributing to client and design team meetings. Prior experience in a fire consultancy or multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications & Professional Memberships



Degree or equivalent qualification in Fire Engineering or a related discipline (desirable). Membership (or working towards membership) of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or similar professional body.

Competitive salary:

53,000-60,000

(DOE). Hybrid working model with up to 90% remote work. 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays). Additional 3 days leave during company shutdown at Christmas. Contributory pension scheme. Paid professional fees.

Pay: 53,000.00-60,000.00 per year
